Organic
foods have a greater abundance of life-giving vitamins and minerals in
part due to the organic farmers' natural soil rebuilding process and the
fact that organic foods are harvested at the ripe stage, instead of the
green stage.
It's true
that organic foods dont look as pretty or keep as long as standard
produce, but that's because they haven't been cosmetically enhanced with
chemicals to improve their appearance and lengthen their shelf life.
What you lose in shelf life and attractiveness when buying organic
foods, you more than make up for in flavor and health benefits. Because
organic products are grown without the use of synthetic pesticides or
chemicals, organic farming is more labor-intensive. The higher price of
organically grown produce reflects the greater labor demands placed on
organic farmers, but the benefits received far out-weigh the extra cost.
