Mr.Khalid spoke
on the topic of giving the body a chance to heal itself rather than
resorting to conventional or modern medicine. Modern medical
procedures can be invasive and often involve the cutting of body
organs or the use of destructive medicines to fight the 'bad cells'
in the body. Traditional or holistic medicine depends more on
factors such as nutrition and respiratpru exercise. There is no
single treatment for treating our bodies, or for giving them a
chance to heal themselves. Before modern medicine, the practice of
medicine used to be called 'Hekmah' or wisdom. Each case must be
individually considered based on several factors, called biological
individuality, the interrelationship between our bodies and the
environment, and the causes of the disease. Doctors often prescribe
the same antibiotic for different patients without asking what made
each individual
Many of us have unhealthy diets, which may contribute to the
frequency of asthamatic attcks that many people suffer from
nowadays. The cause is excess mucus, the excess mucus in our diets,
which is very simple thing to treat. We can treat an asthamatic
patient with modern medical techniques for years on en without
effecting a cure, or we can treat the patient within a few days by
simly ridding his or her body of excess mucus and instructing him or
her to eat less mucus forming foods. Many children and adults suffer
from asthama and the solution to their suffering is very simple. But
modern medicine only treats the symptoms f the disease, and does not
recognize the need to allow the body a chance to heal itself.
Another common condition is tonsillitis. Inflammation of the
tonsils is also very simple to treat. In conventional medicine the
immediate solution is tonsillectomy. The tonsils are an important
body organ; the body's first line of defense for the immune system.
Yet another example is the appendix. Why do people suffer the
unnecessary pain and stress of having their appendix removed? The
key here is wisdon, we have to deal with our bodies gently and with
understanding, and we have to correct our unhealthy diets, etc. To
preven disease altogether, or to treat an existing disease, whether
acute or chronic, we have to examine how and what we eat, and plan a
proper eating strategy. We seldom consider how our bodies are going
to get rid of the excess or waste. We only make use of 3% to 5% or
at most 6% of what we eat, the rest hast to be reomoved from the
body. There are different channels in the body for the removal of
wastes.
We will start with respiration, which is the most
important, fresh air is free, we do not have to buy it and it is
abailable to everybody in abundance. We have to learn how to breathe
properly. I have seen so many cases where a cure has been effected
just by breathing exercises. This is especially true for patients
who go to the mountains or other less polluted areas where even the
breathing exercises may not be neccessary for the patient to be able
to lead a normal life. The second is water. We cannot live without
water for more then a few days, may be three days or so.The third is
food.
To continue on the subject of respiration, air is the
first thing we need when we are born. We breathe in our mother's
womb in a different way, and the first thing we need to learn when
we are born is to breathe the air. The second thing we require is
milk to drink, and then after some time food.
These three activities give all the cells in our bodies
the chance to renew themselves. Respiration gives the chance, the
more air we inhale the more wase we excrete through our lungs by
exhaling carbon dioxide and toxic gases. Also the inhaled oxygen
reaches all of the body's cells and enables cell renewal. Water also
gives this chance. Our bodies are 70% water, and water works as a
cleanser for the body.Proper care of the urinary tract is imperative
if we want this to function correctly.
Water is removed from the body in several ways, out of
our lungs as vapor, through the urinary tract, through sweat, and
trough the digestive system. Therefore ensuring that the excreting
channels are open will give the body a chance to rid itself of
toxins and prevent the accumulation of excess.
